[Lan Wangji kneels correctly on the grass beside the bench to lay the guqin down, waiting for Jonathan to activate the recorder before he starts to play the complicated, soothing-slow tune of Rest]
[Jon settles across from him and pulls the recorder into his lap. He gives Lan Wangji a brief nod before thumbing the record.
Since Lan Wangji is playing anyway, Jonathan will practice his meditation and breathing for however long he plays. The faint hum of the recorder is an additionally soothing undercurrent.]
[he seems to modulate his playing a little to include the sound, so it seems nearly a part of the tune. Jonathan may (slightly ironically) feel the weight of Lan Wangji's eyes on him, observing to see how he's doing]
[Jon's hardly perfect at it. There are flickers of emotion: a brow knit in thought, lips thinning with frustration. His fingers stroke idly over the buttons of the tape recorder. Some unconscious part of him feels the weight of that gaze, and the fidgeting increases, but Jon's really doing his best to let it go. He forces his hands off the recorder flat onto his thighs.]
